EAN (barcode)
International barcode that uniquely identifies a product worldwide. It complements the SKU, which remains your internal reference.
EAN stands for European Article Number. It is the international barcode, most often made up of 13 digits, that uniquely identifies a product anywhere in the world. Unlike the SKU, which you choose freely for your internal management, the EAN is a global standard: the same product carries the same EAN across every seller.
For example, if you sell a phone from a major brand, its EAN is printed below the barcode on the box — identical to the one used by other resellers.
On the Wasal Seller Portal, the EAN appears alongside the SKU in the details of your variants and your orders.
Keep the difference in mind: the SKU is your internal reference, while the EAN is the product's global identity. Both can coexist on the same listing.
